The owner of this local rusk bakery started baking rusks for family and friends at the end of 2014. Her products became so popular that she shifted the Tupperware containers for proper rusks packaging and we created a brand for her.
We discussed her idea behind baking and brainstormed names. We decided on Hapgebak. It’s a quirky fusion of two Afrikaans words: hap (bite) and gebak (baked or baked goods).
First on the list was the branding. A logo and some labels to differentiate between products. The social media followed. We created a Facebook page and made sure we update the content regularly. People love photos of delicious things, especially if you can eat them. So within 6 months she almost has a 100 natural followers and her products are being sold at two major outlets in Paarl and Brackenfell. It’s still growing.
We’re in the process of creating an online platform where people will be able to view her products online and order them directly from there.
That is what I was talking about loving your brand so that people can fall in love with it as well. Go on, order some buttery rusks right now!
